Sellers must accurately describe their books' conditions using our standardized ratings: New, Like New, Very Good, Good, and Acceptable. Each listing includes detailed information about the book's condition, including any highlighting, notes, or wear. Photos of the actual book are also provided to help you make an informed decision.
Renting books is easy! Browse our rental listings and select a book you want to rent. Choose your preferred rental period (monthly, semester, or yearly). Pay the rental fee plus a refundable security deposit. After the rental period ends, return the book in good condition to get your deposit back.
We understand that normal wear and tear happens during use. However, if a book is returned with significant damage (water damage, missing pages, broken spine, excessive highlighting), a portion or all of your security deposit may be withheld. The exact amount depends on the severity of the damage and will be determined by the book owner.
We offer flexible rental periods to suit your needs: Monthly (30 days), Semester (4 months), and Yearly (12 months). You can also extend your rental period if needed by contacting the book owner through our messaging system before the rental period ends.
The security deposit typically ranges from 30% to 50% of the book's current market value. This amount is fully refundable when you return the book in good condition within the rental period. The exact deposit amount will be clearly shown before you complete the rental transaction.
Yes, you can return a book early! However, rental fees are calculated based on the initially selected rental period. For early returns, contact the book owner through our messaging system to arrange the return. Your security deposit will be refunded, but the rental fee remains the same.
To list a book, click on "Sell" in the navigation menu. Fill out the listing form with details about your book including title, author, condition, and price. Upload clear photos of the book. Choose whether you want to list it for sale, rent, or both. Submit your listing, and it will be live on our platform after a quick review.
When setting your price, consider the book's original price, condition, demand, and edition. For textbooks, newer editions typically command higher prices. For rentals, monthly rates are usually 10-15% of the book's value. Browse similar listings to get an idea of competitive pricing. Remember that reasonably priced books tend to sell faster!
Upload clear, well-lit photos that accurately show the book's condition. Include pictures of: front and back covers, spine, any damage or wear, table of contents, and a sample page. Photos should be in focus and taken against a plain background. Good quality photos increase your chances of selling!
You can choose to offer shipping, in-person delivery, or both. For shipping, package the book securely to prevent damage. Use tracking services for security. You're responsible for shipping within 2 business days after receiving payment. For local transactions, arrange a safe public meeting place through our messaging system.
If a buyer reports damage, they must provide photos within 48 hours of receiving the book. We'll review the case and compare with your listing photos. If the damage occurred during shipping, the shipping insurance will cover it. For disputes, our support team will mediate and help reach a fair resolution.
BooksVooks supports various payment methods including UPI, net banking, and major credit/debit cards. For in-person exchanges, cash payments are also an option. We recommend using our secure messaging system to arrange payment details with the other party.
BooksVooks charges a small service fee of 5% on each successful transaction to maintain our platform and provide secure services. This fee is automatically calculated and deducted from the final sale price. There are no fees for listing books or browsing the platform.
Refunds can be initiated within 48 hours of receiving a book if it doesn't match the listing description. For rental security deposits, refunds are processed within 3-5 business days after the book is returned in good condition. All refunds are sent back to the original payment method used for the transaction.
Yes, we use industry-standard encryption and secure payment gateways to process all transactions. We never store your complete credit card information on our servers. All payment processing is handled by trusted third-party payment processors that comply with PCI DSS standards.
After a successful sale and delivery confirmation from the buyer, the payment (minus our service fee) will be transferred to your linked bank account within 5-7 business days. For rental income, payments are processed at the start of each rental period.
